Particle Structures in Elementary Cellular Automaton Rule 146
نویسنده
چکیده
Stochastic particle-like persistent structures are found in the class 3 elementary cellular automaton rule number 146. These particles arise as boundaries separating regions with black cells occupying sites at spacetime points Hx, tL of constant parity x⊕ t. The particles execute random walks and annihilate in pairs, with particle density decaying with time in a power-law fashion. It is shown that the evolution of rule 146 closely resembles that of the additive rule 90, with persistent localized structures.

Persistent Structures in Elementary Cellular Automaton Rule 146
Two types of spacetime structures found in the evolution of rule 146 are presented: very large white triangles, called monoliths, and persistent structures formed by sequential white triangles of even width. The monoliths are discussed in terms of large fluctuations away from equilibrium in a many-body system. The persistent structures are derived by highlighting the nonadditive portions of the...
متن کاملComplexity of Evolution Languages of the Elementary Cellular Automaton of Rule 146
Symbolic dynamics of cellular automata is introduced by coarse-graining the temporal evolution orbits. Evolution languages are defined. By using the theory of formal languages and automata, the complexity of evolution languages of the elementary cellular automaton of rule 146 is studied and it is proved that its width 1-evolution language is regular, but for every n ≥ 2 its width n-evolution la...
متن کاملA Language for Particle Interactions in Rule 54 and Other Cellular Automata
This is a study of localized structures in one-dimensional cellular automata, with the elementary cellular automaton rule 54 as a guiding example. A formalism for particles on a periodic background is derived, applicable to all one-dimensional cellular automata. We can compute which particles collide and in how many ways. We can also compute the fate of a particle after an unlimited number of c...
متن کاملThe Attractor-Basin Portrait of a Cellular Automaton
Local space-time structures, such as domains and the intervening dislocations, dominate a wide class of cellular automaton (CA) behavior. For such spatiallyextended dynamics regular domains, vicinities, and attractors are introduced as organizing principles to identify the discretized analogs of attractors, basins, and separatrices: structures used in classifying dissipative continuous-state dy...
متن کاملDetermining a Regular Language by Glider-Based Structures called Phases fi -1 in Rule
Rule 110 is a complex elementary cellular automaton able of supporting universal computation and complicated collision-based reactions between gliders. We propose a representation for coding initial conditions by means of a finite subset of regular expressions. The sequences are extracted both from de Bruijn diagrams and tiles specifying a set of phases fi 1 for each glider in Rule 110. The sub...
